Vanuatu: relations with "Israel" since 1993, the honorary consulate, its recognition of Palestine, and its UN votes
Vanuatu established relations with "Israel" in 1993, and "Israel" has an honorary consul there.[1] It is the only Pacific state that has formally recognised the State of Palestine.[2]

The Israeli foreign ministry's 2011 list of missions records relations with Vanuatu as established in December 1993, with "Israel" represented by a non-resident ambassador based at the foreign ministry in Jerusalem, and an Israeli honorary consul.[1]
Political interference
UN voting
According to 1News, Vanuatu abstained on the General Assembly's October 2023 resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.[3] Vanuatu voted for the resolution of 12 December 2023 demanding an "immediate humanitarian ceasefire", according to The Diplomat.[4] In September 2024 it abstained on the resolution demanding that "Israel" end its "unlawful presence" in the Occupied Palestinian Territory within 12 months.[5] Vanuatu did not vote on the September 2025 General Assembly resolution endorsing the New York Declaration on a two-state solution.[6]
