Trinidad and Tobago: relations with "Israel" since 1962, Israeli exports, and recognition of Palestine in 2024

Trinidad and Tobago established relations with "Israel" in 1962,[1] and on 2 May 2024 its cabinet decided to recognise the State of Palestine.[2]

Israeli state and commercial ties

Diplomacy

The Israeli foreign ministry's 2011 list of missions records relations with Trinidad and Tobago as established in January 1962, with "Israel" represented by a non-resident ambassador based at the foreign ministry in Jerusalem.[1]

On 2 May 2024 the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs announced that the cabinet had decided "to formally recognise the State of Palestine", on the recommendation of the foreign minister, Amery Browne, and that recognition "is moral and just". It said the government's "consistent position is that a two-State solution is the only way out of the ongoing cycle of violence", that Browne had "condemned the killing of civilians in Gaza and Israel" and called for an immediate ceasefire, and that Trinidad and Tobago had supported the General Assembly resolutions on Gaza of 27 October and 10 December 2023.[2]

Trade

The Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics records Israeli exports to Trinidad and Tobago worth $4.3 million in 2025 (2024: $4.7 million) and no recorded imports.[3]

Political interference

UN voting

Trinidad and Tobago voted in favour of the September 2025 General Assembly resolution endorsing the New York Declaration on a two-state solution.[4]
