San Marino: relations with "Israel" since 1995 and its recognition of Palestine

San Marino established relations with "Israel" in 1995.[1] Its government decided on 23 September 2025 to recognise the State of Palestine.[2]

Israeli state and commercial ties

Diplomacy

The Israeli foreign ministry's 2011 list of missions records relations with San Marino as established in November 1995, with "Israel" represented by its ambassador in Italy.[1]

Political interference

Recognition of Palestine

On 23 September 2025 San Marino's Congress of State adopted a decision providing for the "recognition by the Republic of San Marino of the State of Palestine as a sovereign and independent State, within internationally recognised borders and in compliance with the relevant United Nations resolutions". The decision recalled the 1996 agreement establishing diplomatic relations with the Palestinian National Authority and the accreditation of the first Palestinian ambassador in January 2025. The foreign minister, Luca Beccari, said that San Marino supported a Palestinian state "living in peace and mutual recognition of the State of Israel".[2]

UN voting

San Marino voted in favour of the September 2025 General Assembly resolution endorsing the New York Declaration on a two-state solution.[3]
