Saint Lucia: relations with "Israel" since 1979, its UN votes, and Jeffrey Epstein's 2017 flight for Kathryn Ruemmler

Saint Lucia established relations with "Israel" in 1979[1].

Israeli state and commercial ties

Diplomacy

The Israeli foreign ministry's 2011 list of missions records relations with Saint Lucia as established in January 1979, with "Israel" represented by a non-resident ambassador based at the foreign ministry in Jerusalem.[1] Saint Lucia had recognised the State of Palestine before May 2024, when the Bahamas became the last of the 14 independent members of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) to do so.[2]

Political interference

UN voting

Saint Lucia voted in favour of the September 2025 General Assembly resolution endorsing the New York Declaration on a two-state solution.[3]

Jeffrey Epstein

Documents released by the US Department of Justice in the Jeffrey Epstein files include the following.

  • On 27 January 2017 Larry Visoski wrote that he would fly to St Lucia the next afternoon to be in position to pick up "Katheen Ruemmler" in the GIV, as "Jeffrey said she wants to leave at 9 AM on Sunday", and bring her to St Thomas.[4] A member of Epstein's staff replied to him the same day that "JE did say he would pick up Kathy Ruemmler's from St Lucia on Sunday morning at 8am."[5]
