Nachala (נחלה) is an Israeli settlement movement that calls for Jewish settlement in Gaza, Lebanon and the Golan, including the Syrian Golan. It is more radical than the state line, and it works in public beside Uri Tzafon when the claim is Lebanon. On 8 December 2024, after Uri Tzafon said families had set up an outpost at Maroun al-Ras, Nachala said the answer to the war in Syria was “the taking of territory,” that “Jewish settlement is the only thing that will bring regional stability,” and that “the land of Israel is the property of our ancestors and it must not be abandoned to foreigners.” The army said the Uri Tzafon encampment had not crossed the border.[1]
The movement’s Lebanon line is the same as Uri Tzafon’s. The difference is the list. Nachala names Gaza and the Syrian Golan in the same sentence. Ministers had argued for settlement in Gaza: Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir for it, Benjamin Netanyahu against an intention to resettle it. No minister in that report called for settlement in Lebanon. Nachala did. It is the organised end of a demand the government had not adopted, stated on the day a sister campaign claimed to have pitched tents on the other side of the fence.
