Below is a list of individuals identified as terrorism experts to be used as a starting point for further research on their prominence in different areas.
The majority of the list is made up by the top 133 cited terror scholars in ISI rankings from the Social Science Citation Index between 1970 and 2007 based on a search for 'terrorism' (Column A below). These individuals were then supplemented by:
- The first 25 individuals referred to as "terror expert" or "terrorism expert" on Google (at 10:12am on 20 Dec 2007), (Column B below).
- The first 25 authors on Google Books returned after searching for "Terrorism" (at 11:00am on 3 January 2007), (Column C below).
- Figures often invited to conferences and other events on Terrorism at influential think-tanks (namely Wilton Park, Chatham House, Royal United Services Institute, IISS, Brookings Institution, Jamestown Foundation, Council on Foreign Relations), (Column D below).
- 23 individuals identified as experts in Ed Herman and Gerry O’Sullivan, The "Terrorism" Industry, 1989, based on media sample and authors' judgment (Column E below).
This list is one of a number compiled including
