- 2022 FIFA World Cup. Rabbi Eliyahu Chitrik (then aged 21), son of Mendy Chitrik of Istanbul, ran a temporary, free kosher food service from a hotel kitchen supplied by Qatar Airways. Mendy Chitrik supervised it, and Rabbi Marc Schneier arranged it with the Qatari authorities. According to Chabad.org it served "about 100 bagel sandwiches each day" and up to 400 challahs on Shabbat.[2]
Relations with the state
The 2022 service was arranged with the Qatari authorities through Marc Schneier, who is not described as Chabad, and used a kitchen supplied by the state airline.[2]
