Chabad-Lubavitch and Cameroon: no resident emissary or centre; Chabad-Lubavitch of Central Africa lists visits to Yaoundé and Douala but no dated visit was found

Chabad-Lubavitch in Cameroon has no resident emissary or Chabad house. Chabad-Lubavitch of Central Africa, based in Kinshasa, lists "Punctual visits to Yaounde and Douala" with synagogue services, holiday and summer programmes and an online Hebrew school.^[1] Cameroon is not marked as "permanent representation" in that listing.^[1]

Visits and contacts

There is no resident emissary or centre.

Undated. The Kinshasa listing of visits to Yaoundé and Douala, above.^[1]
Passover 2012, 2013 and 2015. Chabad of Central Africa listed Cameroon only among the countries whose Jewish residents could contact the Kinshasa office for matzah or to join a programme elsewhere. No seder in Cameroon was announced or reported.^[2]^[3]

Funding and controversies

None found.

Editor's note: Evidence is thin. No dated report of a Chabad visit to Cameroon was found. The self-taught Beth Yeshourun congregation near Yaoundé, which has had contact with the non-Chabad group Kulanu, is not linked to Chabad in any source found.
