Controversies and conflicts
- Statutory inquiry: The Charity Commission opened a statutory inquiry into Hatzlocho Limited on 19 December 2024. It was announced together with the inquiry into the linked charity Solev Co Limited (opened 13 December 2024), and raises similar concerns about conflicts of interest and trustee management.[10]
- Linked trustees (press): Charity Times reported that Romie Tager is a trustee of both Solev Co Limited and Hatzlocho, and is related to Hatzlocho's chair, Ester Marianne Tager.[11]
- Court of Appeal judgment: Tager v HMRC [2018] EWCA Civ 1727 quotes a Tager family letter that refers to "a minimum of £2 million" to be "gift aided out of profits to Solev and Hatzlocho" by the family's companies.[12]
- Charity Commission regulatory alert: The register states: "The Charity Commission has opened an inquiry into the charity".[8]
