BritishAmerican Business describes itself as an 'exclusive corporate network and the voice of transatlantic business'. According to BAB:

'We convene our networks and work with members to develop outcome focused business insights, communications, and influence'.

It says it offers members 'strategic insights, introductions and marketing opportunities that help members to generate trade and new business and to power new ideas.'

Structure

BAB incorporates the American Chamber of Commerce (UK) and the British-American Chamber of Commerce (USA), which merged in 2000 to create a 'single, pre-eminent transatlantic organization that could support its members across the Atlantic' - BritishAmerican Business, Inc.

BAB is governed by a Board of Directors elected by its members. Its International Advisory Board, which provides the 'foundation for its influence', is composed of the chairmen and chief executives of multinational companies:[1]

BritishAmerican Business has run a series of events concerned with Brexit. For example, in February 2017 it organised an 'Exclusive Roundtable' with KPMG designed to help business leaders 'through these uncertain times' and 'cut through the noise on Brexit' to focus on what truly matters to business decision making'. Speakers at the event were Antonia Romeo, then British Consul General in New York and Director-General Economic and Commercial Affairs USA, now Permanent Secretary at the UK's Department for International Trade, Doug Peterson, CEO & President, S&P Global and Casey Santos, CIO, General Atlantic.[2]

It has also responded to government consultations relating to Brexit. It submitted a response, for example, to the Department for International Trade’s White Paper on the Future of the UK’s Trade Policy.[3]

In January 2017, Jeffries Briginshaw, BritishAmerican Business CEO, said that the organisation looked forwarded to 'working closely with the [UK] Government to provide advice and support. The UK’s relationship with the EU must work for business.'[4]

Members of the BritishAmerican Business Council had dinner with Treasury minister David Gauke in April 2016. In September 2017, the organisation met to discuss Brexit with the incoming Permanent Secretary at the Department for Exiting the European Union, Philip Rycroft.
