David Schreiber (born 1952) (Companies House date of birth August 1952; officer ID VLNJMHme7f8mahQywOtppkLmU-g) is a son of Moses Schreiber and the principal of the Midos Group network at 147 Stamford Hill, London N16 5LG.[1] For other similarly named people see David Schreiber (disambiguation).
On 7 January 1973, aged 20, bachelor, knitwear manufacturer, of 212 Upper Clapton Road, E.5, he married Miriam Orgel, aged 20, spinster, of 48 Moresby Road, E.5, at Abraham Leiper Hall, 47 Lea Bridge Road, District of Hackney, entry 107, according to the usages of the Jews by licence. The certificate names his father as Moses Schreiber, knitwear manufacturer. Her father is Simcha Orgel, diamond cutter. Witnesses were Moses Schreiber and Jacob Lipschitz. The marriage was solemnised by Josef Dunner, rabbi, with Rafael M. Hirsch as secretary for marriages.[2] The index entry is Stoke Newington, 1973 Q1, volume 5E, page 291.[3]
212 Upper Clapton Road is the house a September 1966 FBI report said Moses Schreiber had bought. The same father and the same house appear on the 10 March 1974 certificate of Osias Schreiber.[4][5] No England and Wales birth index entry has been found for him. Age 20 in January 1973 fits an August 1952 birth outside the United Kingdom.
He is not David Abraham Schreiber (furniture), David Schreiber (born 1963) (Har Nof), or David Schreiber (born 1976) (Jessam Avenue / Satmar charity cards).
Parents, wife, brothers
- Father: Moses Schreiber, knitwear manufacturer on this certificate, company director on Osias’s. Born 15 February 1931, Oradea, Romania, on the 1963 FBI report treated as accurate in the 1982 opinion. United States passport issued in London on 20 January 1965.[5]
- Mother: Irene. Maiden name not on the certificate or in the opinion.
- Wife: Miriam Schreiber (née Orgel; August 1952 band). Her father Simcha Orgel is entered as diamond cutter, of 48 Moresby Road — the address the opinion calls Moses Schreiber’s father’s home in 1964. The certificate does not identify the two households.[2][5]
- Brother, proved: Osias Schreiber (October 1953), same father, same Upper Clapton Road house.[4]
- Brother, in this reconstruction: Emanuel Schreiber (May 1956), co-defendant in the 1986 gold-VAT case. His marriage certificate is not in this set.
- Not a brother: Joel Schreiber (born 1949) (Zucker line; Simon Schreiber / Ellador descent) and Jacob Schreiber (born 1936) (son of Simon Schreiber; Rumpler). Jacob Lipschitz is a witness, not a sibling.
The opinion’s “youngest child”, born in London in December 1964 with an American Embassy birth certificate, is a further sibling. No matching GRO birth has been found. “Youngest” is as at that date.[5]

Nationality filings
David Schreiber (born 1952), Emanuel Schreiber and Osias Schreiber have filed American nationality at Companies House while resident in England. That sits with the father’s United States passport and with the absence of GRO births for the three. It is not a naturalisation certificate.[5][7] Joel Schreiber (born August 1979) is the next generation: UK-born, later US-based.

May 1986 press treated David as age 33, which matches an August 1952 birth. Co-principal: Emanuel Schreiber (May 1956). Osias Schreiber was not named.
The fraud type was the 1979–82 gold-coin / bullion VAT gap: coins zero-rated or exempt, bullion standard-rated; melt coins, sell bars through a missing trader who kept the 15 per cent VAT. The Treasury told the Commons in April 1982 that five such frauds then charged totalled about £23.5 million.[8]
Later Gazette notices are bankruptcy and trustee-in-bankruptcy administration, not a finding of innocence. After discharge the names reappear on property letterheads at 147 Stamford Hill. That is chronology, not a court finding that property assets were trial proceeds.
