Chris Bryant

Chris Bryant has been the Labour Party MP for Rhondda since 2001, retaining his seat in the 2015 general election with a majority of 7,455. [1] In May 2015, Bryant was appointed shadow secretary of state for culture, media and sport. [2]

Following the 2015 leadership election, Bryant was appointed shadow Commons leader, having declined the post of shadow defence secretary, citing disagreements over defence issues with newly-elected Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn. [3]

Background

Bryant joined the Labour Party in 1996, after a career in the Church and as a writer, as chair of the Christian Socialist Movement and a Hackney Councillor. A summer evening with lobbyists
