Background

According to the Cabinet Office website they "support the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, and ensure the effective running of government." They are the corporate headquarters for government, in partnership with HM Treasury, and take the lead in certain critical policy areas. The Cabinet Office is a ministerial department, supported by 18 agencies and public bodies.
