Sources of funding

Also promoted by Jewish Legacy.

Funding in Israel

The synagogue of Yemin Orde Youth Village (2024), one of the five Israeli youth villages the charity funds
  • FY2025: grants to villages in Israel £673,393 (2024: £721,944) (PDF p.7). Villages named: Aloney Yitzhak, Talpiot, Neve Hadassah, TOM Youth Village and Yemin Orde; Village Way Educational Initiatives operate in over 70 educational settings across Israel.[2]

Israeli partners

Five youth villages "located across Israel".[22] Yemin Orde is "located atop Mount Carmel near Haifa";[23] Aloney Yitzchak is "located within the Aloney Yitzchak nature reserve".[24] The charity's pages for Talpiot give no location,[25] and the Neve Hadassah and TOM pages could not be retrieved.

Support for the Israeli military

Borderline (programme). The 2014 trustees' report says that the men's mechina at Hatzor "is doing very well" and that the ladies' mechina there was awarded an annual pledge of £20,000.[17] Pre-military academies (mechinot) combine religious or leadership study with preparation for service in the Israel Defense Forces. The charity's website says that 97% of graduates of Aloney Yitzchak go on to join the IDF,[24] and that Yemin Orde, "Founded in 1953 by the British Friends of Youth Aliyah", was named after Orde Wingate, "an influential force in the formation of the Israel Defence Force".[23] The 2024–25 accounts state no IDF funding; this concerns the villages' graduates and history, not funding of the military.[2]

Prior scrutiny. No Charity Commission inquiry or Official Warning, and no complaint or report by the International Centre of Justice for Palestinians, the Islamic Human Rights Commission or Declassified UK, concerning this charity's support for soldiers was found (checked October 2026). The charity is not on the Powerbase page UK AWIS - supporters.

Activity beyond the Green Line

Findings are graded by confidence. "Partner" findings concern the Israeli recipient organisation, not proven use of UK funds.

Evidence of activity beyond the 1949 armistice line
Finding Confidence
All five villages funded are inside the 1949 armistice line: Yemin Orde (Mount Carmel, near Haifa); Aloney Yitzchak (near Binyamina); Talpiot (Hadera); Neve Hadassah (beside Tel Yitzhak, near Netanya); TOM Youth Village (Herev Le'et, near Netanya). No settlement is named in the accounts.[23][2] [26][27][28] None found

Controversies and regulatory action

  • No regulatory action concerning the charity was found in the register extract or the sources searched. The charities in the Commission's settlements class inquiry (opened August 2026) have not been named, so it is not known whether this charity is among them.[29]
  • No Charity Commission inquiry, Official Warning or Gazette insolvency notice naming this charity was found, and its register entry shows no regulatory alert;[30] it is not among the charities named in the Commission's cheque-cashing class-inquiry announcements (May, September and December 2025) or in the September 2026 statement of results.[31][32][33][34] The charities in the Commission's settlements class inquiry (opened August 2026) have not been named, so it is not known whether this charity is among them.[29]
  • 7 October. The accounts report that a Talpiot "house father" was killed in the initial Hamas attack and another a year later, and record a Jake Marlowe Memorial Scholarship of £5,000 in memory of a victim of the Nova festival attack.[2]
  • Parliament. Two Commons contributions by Emma Nicholson (1991 and 1993) mention Youth Aliyah; both predate this company's 1999 registration.[35]
