The Hatzor mechina is the name used here for the men's and women's pre-military academies at Hatzor mentioned by Youth Aliyah – Child Rescue. Its trustees' report for 2013/14 says that the men's mechina at Hatzor "is doing very well" and that the ladies' mechina there was awarded an annual pledge of £20,000.[1]
The report does not name the operating body or give an address. Whether these are the academies at Hatzor HaGlilit linked to Yemin Orde, or other programmes, has not been established [TO CHECK].
Link to IDF service
Pre-military academies (mechinot) are gap-year programmes that prepare young Israelis for service in the Israel Defense Forces; an IDF report in 2013 found that 79.5% of mechina graduates enlisted in combat units.[2] See Mechinot.
