New laws being presented in Parliament by the Conservative Health Secretary, Andrew Lansley in January 2011 offer unprecedented opportunities to private healthcare companies operating in the UK. Widely seen as the biggest reform of the NHS since its creation, Lansley's changes are being fiercely opposed by health professionals, opposition politicians and members of the public.
