The Moreah Teachers' College is a charity whose constitution was adopted on 24 April 1970 and amended on 19 June 1970, 6 August 1971 and 20 September 1993; it was registered on 6 August 1970.[1] Its objects are "TO IMPROVE THE STANDARDS OF JEWISH RELIGIOUS EDUCATION. Funding in Israel

  • Year to 31 March 2025: donations made of £15,800 (2024: £17,520); the accounts say "Funds have been granted to institutions during the period from rents received" but name no recipient or place.[2]

Controversies and regulatory action

  • No Charity Commission inquiry, Official Warning or Gazette insolvency notice naming this charity was found, and its register entry shows no regulatory alert;[10] it is not among the charities named in the Commission's cheque-cashing class-inquiry announcements (May, September and December 2025) or in the September 2026 statement of results.[11][12][13][14] The charities in the Commission's settlements class inquiry (opened August 2026) have not been named, so it is not known whether this charity is among them.[15]
  • No examiner's report. Income for the year to 31 March 2025 was £25,288, and accounts were filed for that year (for the years to March 2021–2024 the register shows accounts as "Not required"), but the filed document contains no independent examiner's report; its approval date and signatory are blank.[2][1] The accounts for 2014 had included an independent examiner's report.[16]
  • Late filing. The register records the annual return and accounts for the year to 31 March 2025 as received on 12 March 2026, "40 days late", and the 2021 annual return as 35 days late.[1]
  • Trustee lists differ. The accounts list six trustees – "M Berger", "S Steinhaus (resigned 27.2.26)", "J Lewin", "Rabbi S Lederberger", "M Berger" and "Mrs R Baddiel"; S Lederberger and R Baddiel do not appear on the register, which lists four trustees, including Simcha Yehuda Steinhous.[2][3] The 2018 accounts named the trustees as M Berger, H Sipper, S Steinhaus and A Carmell.[6]
  • Governing document described differently. The accounts describe the governing document as "a deed of trust" constituting "an unincorporated charity"; the register records a constitution adopted in 1970.[2][1]
  • Unusual comparative figures. The 2024 column of the statement of financial activities shows negative expenditure lines, "Raising funds" of (1,440) and "Other" of (3,900).[2]
  • Unnamed recipients and unidentified property. Neither the 2025 accounts nor the archived 2018 accounts name any grant recipient or give the address of the investment property; the 2018 accounts show rents of £33,100 (2017: £33,933), grants to institutions of £15,750 (2017: £24,250) and grants to individuals of £2,975 (2017: £2,775), as read from the page image (PDF p.9).[2][6]

Other registers and records

Scotland and Northern Ireland

No entry was found on the Scottish Charity Register for this charity (register export dated 14 October 2026, searched by name).[17] No entry was found on the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland register (API name searches returned zero results).[18]

The Gazette

Searches of The Gazette notice feeds (all notices, insolvency and company) for the charity's name found no notice of any kind.[19]

Grants recorded by 360Giving

No grants received or made by this charity are recorded in 360Giving data.[20]

Sanctions screening

The charity's name, its current register trustees, trustees named on archived register pages, trustees and officers named in the accounts read for this profile and (for charitable companies) its Companies House officers were screened against the UK Sanctions List and the OFSI Consolidated List. No match was found.[21]

Land and property

The register records that the charity owns and/or leases land or property.[3] No title registers were purchased; the HM Land Registry interactive search blocked automated access.[22] Candidate titles and addresses (CCOD dataset and register/accounts data):[23]

  • No candidate address: the register records that the charity owns or leases land, and the accounts for the year to 31 March 2025 show an investment property at fair value of £290,460 producing rents of £20,015, but give no address; the charity is unincorporated, and CCOD/OCOD list only company proprietors, so a title held in the names of individual trustees would not appear there; a name search for 'MOREAH' found nothing – Register and accounts (source: [3][2][23])

Parliament

Hansard exact-phrase searches for "The Moreah Teachers' College", "Moreah Teachers College", "Moreah" returned 0 contributions in total.[24]

Web archive

The UK Government Web Archive holds 2 archived Charity Commission register pages used in this profile (cited in the sections above). The 2021 archived full print showed the status "Charity reporting is up to date" and "Other regulators: No information available".[5]
