Richard Reeves was special adviser to UK deputy prime minister Nick Clegg from June 2010[1]until April 2012. [2] Reeves is now a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution and associate director of think-tank CentreForum.


Reeves was director of "third way" think-tank Demos from August 2008 until June 2010 when he became Nick Clegg's special adviser on political strategy in the Coalition government.[3]

He is co-founder of the consultancy Intelligence Agency and has worked as a research fellow at think tank the Institute for Public Policy Research.[4] He is also a former Director of Futures at the Work Foundation.[5]

During the first year of the Labour Government in 1997, Reeves was principal policy adviser to the Minister for Welfare Reform Frank Field.[6]

Reeves is a former economics correspondent of The Guardian and society editor of The Observer. He has been editor at large for Management Today and essayist for the New Statesman.[7]


Reeves has published two books, John Stuart Mill: Victorian Firebrand (2007), a biography of the British liberal philosopher and politician, and Happy Mondays – putting the pleasure back into work. (2002) about job satisfaction. He also co-authored The 80 Minute MBA (2009) with John Knell, a condensed business management book.[8]
