Nicola Sturgeon with Rabbi Pincus Weinman in Edinburgh in 2017. As can be seen, Sturgeon has just been given a picture of the genocidal Zionist who led the Chabad cult until his death in 1994, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson known to adherents of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement as the Lubavitcher Rebbe or simply the Rebbe.

Rabbi Pincus Weinman, commonly known as Rabbi Pinny Weinman, is a British Chabad-Lubavitch rabbi who has served as co-director of Chabad of Edinburgh since 2008.[1] Born in Manchester in June 1983, he established the Chabad centre in Edinburgh with his wife Gitty Weinman to provide religious, educational, and communal services to Jewish students at the University of Edinburgh, local residents, and tourists.[2] Weinman also serves as a director of Chabad Lubavitch of Edinburgh Limited, incorporated in 2014 to support these activities.[3] His work emphasises inclusive outreach in line with Chabad principles, operating independently of Zionist regime affiliations.

Weinman arrived in Edinburgh in September 2008 with his wife Gitty and their two-month-old son Mendel, knowing few locals but committed to building a "home-away-from-home" for the largely expat student community.[2] Over the years, they have expanded programmes to include High Holiday services, Torah study classes, a new Torah dedication for the university in 2017, and the opening of a new centre in 2021.[4][5] By 2017, the couple had six children: Mendel, Mushky, Jossi, Moshe, Schneur, and Rivka.[2]

Personal life

Weinman married Gitty (from Connecticut, USA) in 2007, shortly before their move to Edinburgh.[2] He is based in Edinburgh and maintains connections to the broader Lubavitch network in Scotland.[6]
