The Other Club is a secretive political dining society which meets periodically at the Pinafore Room of the Savoy Hotel. [1] The club was founded by Winston Churchill in 1911 with his closest friend and political opponent, the Conservative MP and lawyer FE Smith - later Lord Birkenhead. [2] The rules of the club state that the club should meet on alternate Thursdays 'at 8.15 punctually' when Parliament is in session and that, 'Nothing in the Rules of Intercourse of the Club shall interfere with the rancour or asperity of party politics.' [3]
