Katie Myler is a director and senior consultant to lobbyists Burson Marsteller. She was also director of communications for Andy Burnham's bid to become leader of the Labour Party, having held a similar role during Ed Miliband's successful campaign.

Career

Myler started her career at GMTV, where she spent a decade, latterly as a senior producer for all political coverage.[1]

She then went on to work as a special adviser to two Labour secretaries of state: Andy Burnham and Jacqui Smith.[2] Recognising her experience, Ed Miliband employed her in the role of director of communications for his bid to become leader of the Labour Party in 2010. Myler continued in this role for a few months after Miliband's win to help his transition to the position of leader of the opposition.

In November 2010 Myler announced she would leave the Labour Party to take up a role with Burson Marsteller.[1]

In June 2015 it was announced Myler would work on Andy Burnham's bid to become Labour Party leader. Myler, as director of communications, worked with campaign manager and founder and managing director of Insight Consulting Group, John Lehal and campaign chair Michael Dugher.[3]

Family

She is the daughter of Colin Myler, editor of News of the World. [1]
