Diane Allen

Occupation Army Reserve officer, Intelligence Corps
Known for Former commanding officer, Specialist Group Military Intelligence

Diane Allen is a lieutenant colonel in the Intelligence Corps of the Army Reserve, appointed OBE in 2018.[1] An Institute for Statecraft document describes her as a former commanding officer of the Specialist Group Military Intelligence (SGMI) and a member of the Institute's specialist team for the Integrity Initiative.[2] She is also named in a list of SGMI members published by Anonymous in January 2019.[3]

Military career

In the Queen's Birthday Honours of June 2018 "Lieutenant Colonel Diane Margaret ALLEN V.R. 519207 Intelligence Corps, Army Reserve" was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE), Military Division.[1]

The Institute for Statecraft's expert team list describes her as an "Armenian and Russian linguist" and gives her a "(DV)" marker, which the Working Group on Syria, Propaganda and Media read as developed vetting.[4] It continues: "former Royal Signals and currently Intelligence Corps reserve Lt Col; former CO of Specialist Group Military Intelligence; worked with the Land Information Assessment Group and developing infowar capacity with the Army's 77 Brigade".[2] The list published by Anonymous gives her the title "former commander of SGMI".[3]

Integrity Initiative

In the Integrity Initiative documents published by Anonymous, Allen is listed:

  • in the Institute for Statecraft expert team as a specialist team member;[2]
  • in the UK cluster lists, in the "UK Outer Core: Russia" group;[5]
  • in a "Tor Team" table, under "Women's infowar capacity building" and "Russia-MENA infowar";[6]
  • in the invitation list for the Institute's NGW (new generation warfare) seminars;[7]
  • in a 2016 concept paper, as someone who "runs adventure training for 14-15 year olds, understands learning levels".[8]
