The Friends of the Laniado Hospital was a charitable trust on the register of the Charity Commission for England and Wales (charity number 267133). Its object was to advance the charitable work of the Laniado Hospital in Kiryat Zans (Kiryat Sanz), Netanya. In 2011 its funds were transferred to Laniado Hospital UK (charity 1126356).[1] The hospital was founded by Yekutiel Yehuda Halberstam, who founded the Sanz-Klausenburg dynasty.[2]

Registration

The trust was registered on 29 March 1974 under a trust deed dated 21 February 1974. It was removed on 8 August 2011, when its funds were transferred to Laniado Hospital UK. It also used the working names British Friends of Laniado Hospital and Friends of Laniado UK; a third working name is recorded as "Friends of Lanado UK". The removed record shows no address and no trustees.[1]

Objects and activities

The register classes the trust's work as the advancement of health or saving of lives. It made grants to organisations for children and young people, elderly people and people with disabilities, and it worked in Israel.[1]

The accounts for 2008 were received on 30 March 2011, 515 days late, and the 2008 annual return was not submitted. The 2009 return was received on 23 June 2011, 235 days late. Nothing was filed for 2010.[1]

Successor

The register records the transfer of funds to Laniado Hospital UK, a charitable company (company 06267928) registered in 2008. Its trustees include Andrew Benjamin Stern and Israel Jeremy Kohn.[1][3][4]

Dynasty link

The link to Sanz-Klausenburg rests on the trust's registered object, which names the Laniado Hospital in Kiryat Sanz, Netanya.[1] According to Rabinowicz, the dynasty's founder opened the hospital in Kiryat Sanz in 1975–76.[2]
