All-Party Parliamentary Group for Food and Drink Manufacturing
The All-Party Parliamentary Group for Food and Drink Manufacturing (APPGFDM) was formed in order to represent the interests of the Food and Drink manufacturing industry in Parliament, and, as stated by the register for All-Party Parliamentary groups, it's remit is 'to consider issues of concern to the food and drink manufacturing industry and raise awareness of these matters in Parliament.' - Provide a forum for debate and dialogue about issues related to food and drink manufacturing
- inform parliamentarians about the issues impacting the industry
- 'promote the UK food and drink manufacturing sector's interests in Parliament' [2]
Purpose
The APPGFDM was set up 'with an intention to':
- counter incorrect and misleading information and statements in Parliament about the food and drink manufacturing industry
- act as a critical friend to the industry by facilitating an important dialogue between Parliamentarians and industry representatives and raising issues that APPG members believe that industry should address
- provide a point of reference for any parliamentarian looking to understand aspects of food and drink manufacturing
- develop productive working relationships with other relevant APPGs where there is a common interest in issue impacting the UK food chain
- broadly encourage the government to take a proportionate, evidence-based and consistent approach to policy and regulation impacting the industry. [3]

The Food and Drink Federation (FDF) acts as the APPGFDM's secretariat, helping the parliamentary officers organise events and day-to-day administration.
