The All-Party Parliamentary Group for Food and Drink Manufacturing (APPGFDM) integral purpose, as stated by the register for All-Party Parliamentary groups, is 'to consider issues of concern to the food and drink manufacturing industry and raise awareness of these matters in Parliament.' [1]

Activities and aims
- Provide a forum for debate and dialogue about issues related to food and drink manufacturing
- inform parliamentarians about the issues impacting the industry
- 'promote the UK food and drink manufacturing sector's interests in Parliament' [2]
Purpose
The APPGFDM was set up 'with an intention to':
- counter incorrect and misleading information and statements in Parliament about the food and drink manufacturing industry
- act as a critical friend to the industry by facilitating an important dialogue between Parliamentarians and industry representatives and raising issues that APPG members believe that industry should address
- provide a point of reference for any parliamentarian looking to understand aspects of food and drink manufacturing
- develop productive working relationships with other relevant APPGs where there is a common interest in issue impacting the UK food chain
- broadly encourage the government to take a proportionate, evidence-based and consistent approach to policy and regulation impacting the industry. [3]

The Food and Drink Federation (FDF) acts as the APPGFDM's secretariat, helping the parliamentary officers organise events and day-to-day administration.
