Controversies and regulatory action

  • No Charity Commission inquiry, Official Warning or Gazette insolvency notice naming this charity was found, and its register entry shows no regulatory alert;[18] it is not among the charities named in the Commission's cheque-cashing class-inquiry announcements (May, September and December 2025) or in the September 2026 statement of results.[19][20][21][22] The charities in the Commission's settlements class inquiry (opened August 2026) have not been named, so it is not known whether this charity is among them.[23]
  • Property financed by trustees' companies. The charity holds investment property of £11,027,390, valued by the trustees at cost, against "Amounts owed to associate undertakings" of £10,987,508 – "money owed to companies in which the trustees have significant influence", interest-free and repayable on demand (PDF p.8, 14–15).[2] The register records that it does not own or lease land.[1]
  • Subsidiary described as dormant. The accounts describe Housefresh Limited as a dormant subsidiary (PDF p.16),[2] yet CCOD lists Housefresh Limited (13077391; directors Dwora, Joseph and Shulom Feldman) as proprietor since 14 April 2021 of 85 Lordship Road, London N16 (price paid £10,990,000) and of the former Bearstead Memorial Hospital and 77 Lordship Road.[24][6] Whether these are the investment property in the charity's balance sheet was not established.
  • Grants to family charities. Grants of £410,400 (2024: £51,480) are shown only as "Other"; the related-party note discloses donations to charities whose trustees are family members – Friends of Wiznitz £205,000, Beis Efraim £20,000 and Centurian Charities Ltd £5,000 – and concessionary loans of £33,000 due from Ahavath Chessed Charitable Association Limited (PDF p.13, 16).[2]
  • Late filing. The register records the annual return and accounts for the year to 31 March 2024 as due on 31 January 2025 and received on 6 February 2025 – 6 days late.[1]
