Kolel Iyun Limited was a charitable company registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales (charity number 292884) and at Companies House (company number 01933570). From 1985 to 1995 it was called Kolel Iyun D'Sanz Limited, and it provided adult learning facilities in Hackney and Haringey.[1][2] The link to the Sanz-Klausenburg dynasty rests on that former name.

Registration

Companies House records that the company was incorporated on 25 July 1985 as Swanpeace Limited. It was renamed Kolel Iyun D'Sanz Limited on 14 August 1985 and took its final name on 8 September 1995. It was a private company limited by guarantee without share capital, with its registered office at 41 Lingwood Road, London E5 9BN, and its business was classed as social work without accommodation. Its last accounts were made up to 30 September 2009, and it was dissolved on 26 July 2011.[2]

The Charity Commission registered it on 26 March 1986 and removed it on 12 April 2012 as having ceased to exist. The register gives Kolel Yad Torah as a working name and records the former name as "Kolel Iyvn D'Sanz Limited", a spelling that differs from the Companies House record.[1][2]

Objects and activities

Its object was the advancement of religious education according to the Orthodox Jewish faith. The charity described its work as providing adult learning facilities. The register classes it under education and training and religious activities, making grants to individuals in Hackney and Haringey.[1]

Dynasty link

The link to Sanz-Klausenburg rests on the name Kolel Iyun D'Sanz ("of Sanz"), which the company used from 1985 to 1995.[2] Neither register says which Sanz community the kollel served, and the Sanz name is also borne by other descendants of the Sanz line.
