Jewish charities in Scotland
List of 69 Jewish charities on the Scottish Charity Register, with income and expenditure
Jewish charities in Scotland is a list of 69 charities on the Scottish Charity Register, which is kept by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR).[1] It covers charities whose names, purposes, objectives or activities in the register refer to Jewish religion, community, education or culture, using terms such as "Jewish", "synagogue", "Hebrew", "Torah", "Lubavitch" and "Holocaust", the same kind of keyword approach as the Jewish charities in England and Wales list. It also includes 17 charities identified from other sources whose register entries do not use these terms. Only charities on the current register are included; charities that have been removed from the register are left out.
The list includes 7 cross-border charities that were established elsewhere in the United Kingdom but are also on the Scottish register, such as the Community Security Trust. It also includes Messianic and Christian mission bodies whose register entries refer to Jewish people. 5 charities (Glasgow Hebrew Burial Society Charitable Fund Association, Jewish Lads & Girls Brigade, Jewish Learning Centre, Lodge Montefiore No 753 Benevolent & Annuity Fund, Lodge Montefiore No 753 Charity Special Projects Fund) have the register status "Not Submitted".
The 69 charities with figures had a combined latest recorded income of £124,396,167 and expenditure of £111,150,984. Figures are each charity's most recent year on the register, so financial years differ. Unlike the registers for England and Wales and Northern Ireland, the Scottish register does not record the countries a charity works in (only a general "geographical spread", such as "UK and overseas"), so this list has no "Operates in Israel" column.
