The Gerald and Gail Ronson Family Foundation (Charity number: 1111728) is a UK grant giving charity associated with Gerald Ronson the convicted fraudster who is active in a wide variety of Zionist causes including most notably being the boss of the Community Security Trust.

The foundation was set up by a trust deed dated 29 September 2005 and registered on 18 October 2005; its earlier names were The Gerald Ronson Foundation and The Gerald Ronson Family Foundation. Since 9 September 2024 its only trustee has been a corporate trustee, GGRFF Trustee Company Limited. Its principal office is c/o HW Fisher Professional Services Ltd, Acre House, 11-15 William Road, London NW1 3ER.[1][2] The objects are to promote, for "persons of the Jewish faith (wherever resident)", the relief of poverty, education, health, citizenship, culture, amateur sport, human rights "including the protection of persons of the Jewish faith from external threats of bigotry, anti-semitism and terrorism", the relief of need and the advancement of the Jewish religion (80% of the trust fund), and other charitable purposes (20%).[1] The 2025 report says the foundation "currently focuses on charities in the United Kingdom and Israel" and that its Israeli subsidiary, Ronson Foundation Services Limited, was formed "for the purposes of administering all aspects of grant making in Israel" (PDF pp.4–5).[2]

Alan Goldman is a trustee of the foundation and from 20 March 2017 was appointed as a Director of Support Trustee Limited the company set up to act as a Trustee of the Community Security Trust.

Ian Rosenblatt was appointed as a Trustee on 24 April 2018. He joined the foundation around ten months after (26 June 2017) he had been appointed as a Director of Support Trustee Limited the company set up to act as a Trustee of the Community Security Trust. He resigned the latter role on 5 March 2020.

The 2014 trustees were Gerald Ronson CBE (chairman), Dame Gail Ronson DBE (deputy chairman), Alan Goldman, Jonathan Goldstein, Lisa Althasen, Nicole Ronson Allalouf and Hayley Ronson.[6] On 9 September 2024 all the trustees resigned in favour of a corporate trustee, GGRFF Trustee Company Limited, a company limited by guarantee incorporated on 1 December 2023; it is the only trustee on the register.[1] The 2025 accounts list its directors as Sir Gerald Ronson CBE (chairman), Dame Gail Ronson DBE (deputy chairman), Alan Goldman, Jonathan Goldstein, Amanda Ronson, Hayley Ronson, Lisa Althasen, Nicole Ronson Allalouf, Jeffrey Shear, Anthony Wagerman and Marc Zilkha. The power to appoint directors rests with Sir Gerald Ronson during his lifetime and then with Dame Gail Ronson. The Israeli subsidiary's board was Amanda Ronson, Alan Goldman and Marc Zilkha, and its chief executive is Natie Shevel (PDF pp.4–5).[2]

The 2025 related-party note lists grants to the Community Security Trust (£250,000), "of which Sir Gerald Ronson CBE, Lisa Althasen, Anthony Wagerman and the Husband of Nicole Ronson Allalouf are directors of the corporate trustee"; the Jewish Leadership Council (£118,000; Lisa Althasen is a council member and Jonathan Goldstein vice president); Darca Schools Network Israel (£1,000,000; Amanda Ronson is a board member); JCoSS (£100,000); and the reversal of a £4,802,393 grant to the Holocaust Memorial Charitable Trust, of which Sir Gerald Ronson is a trustee (PDF pp.25–26).[2]

Source: register financial history.[1] The accounts for 2012–2014 (as the Gerald Ronson Foundation) record total incoming resources of £951,126 (2012), £1,463,543 (2013) and £28,965,162 (2014), which agree with the income table above.[7][8][6] The 2019 accounts record a restricted "Israel" fund of £4,900,000.[9]

Grants in Israel

The grant lists for 2012–2014 show £30,000 a year to UJIA. In 2013 they also show £10,000 to BICOM, £5,000 to Aish UK, £4,000 to Magen David Adom (two grants) and £500 to WIZO UK. In 2014 they show £10,000 to Youth Aliyah Child Rescue, £5,000 to Weizmann UK, £3,000 to Beit Halochem UK and £500 to WIZO UK.[7][8][6] These agree with the 2012–2014 columns of the grant table above.

The largest Israeli commitments described in the 2020 and 2021 reports are:

  • £916,688, through UJIA, for a regional primary school in the Ma'aleh Yosef Regional Council (in northern Israel);
  • £2,082,032 over three years to Kfar Silver Youth Village;
  • £2,083,333 to the Interdisciplinary Centre (IDC) in Herzliya;
  • £1,157,920 over three years to the Darca Schools Network;
  • £541,328 to the Northern Stars Association (Ma'arag, Ma'aleh Yosef);
  • £550,000, through UJIA, to Aleh in Bnei Brak;
  • £4,164,060 over four years to the Jerusalem Foundation for a new building for the Jerusalem Ha'Sadna Music Conservatory.[10][11]

In 2021 the foundation gave £124,923 to the Emunah National Religious Women's Organization.[11] The 2025 grant list (PDF p.35) includes £1,665,624 to Sami Shamoon College of Engineering, £1,000,000 to Darca Schools, £920,000 to ORT Israel, £760,000 to Yad Vashem, £500,000 to Tech Careers, £500,000 to Kedma Youth Village and £2,532,000 to United Hatzalah for a regional command centre in Sderot.[2]

Support for the Israeli military

Grants. The foundation's grant lists record grants to UK and Israeli charities for serving and disabled Israeli soldiers in most years from 2014. They include £45,000 to UK Friends of AWIS, whose registered objects are "THE RELIEF OF NEED AND SUFFERING OF SERVING AND DISCHARGED ISRAELI SOLDIERS AND THEIR FAMILIES";[12] £1,154,000 to Beit Halochem UK or "Beit Halochem", the centres for disabled IDF veterans; £900,000 in 2025 to the "Zahal Disabled Veterans Fund" (Zahal is the Hebrew acronym for the IDF); and £832,812 in 2023 to the Benji Hillman Foundation, which runs a home and guidance centre for IDF lone soldiers in Ra'anana. The accounts describe that grant as being "towards the construction of a Guidance and Support Centre in Ra'anana" for "over 500 young people a year" (2023, PDF p.7; grant list p.35).[13]

The 2025 report says the foundation "committed £800,000 over 4 years to Bet Halochem’s Disabled Veterans Fund for the construction of new expanded physiotherapy centre at its Jerusalem facility", of which £200,000 had been paid, and "a further £100,000 in December 2025 to Beit Halochem to assist in providing scholarships to its members" (PDF p.7).[2] The grant list shows £1,000,000 to "Beit Halochem" as well as the two "Zahal Disabled Veterans Fund" lines; the report does not explain the £1,000,000 line. The 2024 accounts record no grants to these charities in 2024 (PDF pp.6, 34–36).[18] The accounts do not describe the Druze Veterans Association. The 2020–2025 "Beit Halochem" lines do not say whether the payee was Beit Halochem UK or the Israeli organisation.

Prior scrutiny. In February 2024 David Miller, writing for PressTV, named the foundation, set up by Gerald Ronson, among about twenty charities that had donated to UK Friends of AWIS, and it is listed on the Powerbase page UK AWIS - supporters.[19] No Charity Commission inquiry or warning concerning the foundation was found.

Activity beyond the Green Line

Controversies and regulatory action

  • No regulatory action concerning the foundation was found in the register extract or the sources searched. The charities in the Commission's settlements class inquiry (opened August 2026) have not been named, so it is not known whether this foundation is among them.[20]
