  • 1943 - FARM CITY ACTIVITIES At a recent meeting in London, attended by Mr. Jack Karter, Mr. A. Links and Mr. Fred Nettler, J.P., it was arranged that Glasgow’s participation in the Jewish National Fund Battle for Land Campaign would take the form of increasing participation in the Farm City. In furtherance ‘of these arrangements, a series of drawing meetings have been held regularly during the last few weeks in private houses, as a result of which some 24 additional plots have been taken up, this representing, with Covenants, a gross figure of some £lO,OOO. At the - meetings, which were addressed by Mr. Nettler and - Dr. Biegun, the films “ Collective Adventure,” “Homeland in the Making,” and Mr. Nettler’s own colour films of Palestine were shown. - Mr. A. Links acted as Convener of these meetings, those who gave their houses being Mr. Links, Dr. J. Michaelson, Mr. H. Morris, Mr. S. Levitus, Mr. A. Gelfer, Mr. Leon Haase, Mr. David Woolfson and Mr. Ed. Woolfson. . In: Ayr and Largs similar meetings were held, the arrangements for which were made by Messrs. Ernest and Walter Harris and Mr. Robert Epstein.[3]
  • 1939 - WOOLFSON—ELSTON The engagement is announced of David, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Woolfson, of 35 Maxwell Drive, Pollokshields, Glasgow, to Beatrice, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Elston, of 11 Carleton Dr., Giffnock, Glasgow.[4]
