Carrie Symonds is a special adviser to culture secretary John Whittingdale in the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
Career
Whilst at university, Symonds had summer internships with Fishburn Hedges, Mulberry Marketing Communications, Publicasity and Doner Cardwell Hawkins.
After graduating, in 2009, she began working as an account executive at Mulberry Marketing Communications, and a few months later she then began working as a public affairs trainee executive Lansons Communications.
In September 2010 Symonds began working as a campaign and marketing director for Zac Goldsmith MP and the Richmond Park Conservative Association, working for Goldsmith, Boris Johnson in his capacity as Mayor of London and Cllr Tony Arbour.
In January 2011 she was appointed political press adviser of the Conservative Party, including a brief spell from December 2011 and May 2012 as political press officer of BackBoris2012, the campaign to re-elect Boris Johnson as London Mayor, and in June 2013 she was appointed head of broadcast to the Conservative Party.
In May 2015, after the general election, she was appointed special adviser to the Department of Culture, Media and Sport and the culture secretary John Whittingdale.[1][2]
