The International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research (ICPVTR) is the first centre to be established at the Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies, and is part of the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. It is run by Rohan Gunaratna and is advised by a veritable who's who of the terrorism industry and intelligence officials from the US, UK and Israel.

It states that:

The Centre seeks to integrate academic theory with practical knowledge, essential for a complete and comprehensive understanding of the threats from politically motivated violence and terrorism.The ICPVTR conducts cutting-edge action-oriented research on mitigating conflict and political violence. The Centre’s objective is to integrate academic research with practical knowledge, essential for a complete and comprehensive understanding of the threats from politically motivated violence and terrorism, and for developing appropriate counter-measures against the same.[1]
