Jimmy (James) McLoughlin is a former lobbyist, now special adviser to UK prime minister Theresa May. In his new role, he is expected to 'liaise with the UK's business community'.
Appointed in August 2016, McLoughlin had worked on May's leadership campaign. [1]In 2008, he had worked on Boris Johnson's 2008 mayor of London election campaign. [2]
Lobbying roles
McLoughlin was previously the deputy head of policy and external relations at the Institute of Directors 2014.
Before that he worked at heavyweight lobbying agencies Fleishman-Hillard and Bell Pottinger. [3]
Political family
He is the son of Patrick McLoughlin, chairman of the Conservative Party.
