Chabad Lubavitch of Cyprus is a branch of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement that serves the Jewish community and visitors in Cyprus.[1]

Established in 2003 by Rabbi Arie Zeev Raskin and his wife Shaindel, it operates as the primary Jewish communal organisation on the island, with Rabbi Arie Zeev Raskin serving as Chief Rabbi of Cyprus.[2]

The organisation provides religious services, educational programmes, kosher facilities, and support for both local residents and tourists.[1]

History

In 2003, Rabbi Arie Zeev Raskin and his family relocated from Israel to Larnaca to establish a Jewish presence in Cyprus.[2]

Rabbi Arie Zeev Raskin was officially appointed Chief Rabbi of Cyprus in 2005 in a ceremony attended by Israeli and British chief rabbis.[2]

The organisation has expanded to multiple locations, including Larnaca, Limassol, and others, with dedicated centres for prayer, education, and hospitality.[3]

Activities

Chabad Lubavitch of Cyprus maintains synagogues with daily prayers, organises holiday celebrations, provides kosher meals, and runs educational programmes.[1]

It supports the broader Jewish community, including businesspeople, tourists, and those in need, and has assisted large numbers of stranded Israeli travellers.[4]

Additional services include mikvah facilities and community events.[1]

Structure

Led by Rabbi Arie Zeev Raskin, the organisation operates under the global Chabad-Lubavitch network and maintains several centres across Cyprus.[2]
