The All-Party Parliamentary Group for the UK Aluminium Industry is run by the Aluminium Federation. According to the parliamentary website its remit is; 'to increase the UK parliament's awareness of the aluminium industry; to visit plants in the UK and debate issues where legislation affects the aluminium industry.' It is interesting that though much of the remaining UK aluminium industry is based in Scotland there are only 2 members of the APPG representing Scottish constituencies (Alan Beith and Brian Donohoe, and not those where the industry is based (a primary smelter and associated hydro-scheme operates in Lochaber, Fort William).
