The register extract lists no trustees for Technion UK. Its FY2024 accounts name as trustees Paul Charney (chairman), Stephen Wiseman, Geoffrey Hartnell, Claire Rothman, Howard Ross, Lady Morven Heller, Kevin Gothelf, Jacques Fragis and David Menashy, with Alan Aziz shown as director.[9] Companies House records the appointments of Gothelf, Fragis and Menashy as directors on 1 May 2026 – after those accounts were filed on 7 November 2025 – a discrepancy not explained in the public record.[10]

Companies House officers

Companies House lists 19 current and former officers of the charitable company (04412830), 9 of them active.[11]

Appointments of these officers to overseas companies registered in the UK (FC) or on the Register of Overseas Entities (OE):

Funding in Israel

  • Year ended 31 December 2024: £1,542,822 paid to the Technion Institute in Israel (2023: £448,780).[9]

Israeli partners

Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa. The accounts also note ties with the American Technion Society and Canadian and European Technion societies.[9]

Activity beyond the Green Line and support for the IDF

Findings are graded by confidence. "Partner" findings concern the Israeli recipient organisation, not proven use of UK funds.

Evidence of activity beyond the 1949 armistice line
Finding Confidence
Not established. Remittances go to the Technion in Haifa; no West Bank project is named.[9] Low

Support for the IDF: The FY2024 accounts do not state funding for military or defence research; funds go to the Technion for scholarships, laboratories, dormitories and research (restricted funds are described for student dormitories and research and development).[9] The Technion itself has documented research links with Israel's defence industry; see Controversies.[28][29]

Controversies and regulatory action

  • No Charity Commission inquiry, Official Warning or Gazette insolvency notice naming this charity was found, and its register entry shows no regulatory alert;[30] it is not among the charities named in the Commission's cheque-cashing class-inquiry announcements (May, September and December 2025) or in the September 2026 statement of results.[31][32][33][34] The charities in the Commission's settlements class inquiry (opened August 2026) have not been named, so it is not known whether this charity is among them.[35]
  • Accounts narrative. The FY2024 trustees' report states that "Most of the events during the year were online" and that the trustees "were very happy to recruit 4 new trustees in the prior year". Three of the named trustees were recorded at Companies House as appointed on 1 May 2026.[9][10]
  • Technion and the defence industry (context – the Israeli university, not the UK charity). In June 2008 Elbit Systems, which describes itself as "an international defense electronics company", announced a five-year joint research agreement with the Technion's Electrical Engineering department on vision systems, noting that its vision technology is used in "advanced helmet mounted systems for combat aircraft".[28] A 2010 Canadian campaign report urging McGill and Concordia universities to cut links with the Technion alleges that it collaborates with Elbit and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and co-runs the IDF "Brakim" academic-reserve programme.[29] The UK charity's accounts do not say whether any UK-raised funds go to defence-related research.[9]
