Controversies and regulatory action
- No Charity Commission inquiry naming this charity was found; it is not named in the 2025–2026 cheque-cashing class-inquiry announcements or statement of results, and the charities in the August 2026 settlements class inquiry have not been named.[11][12][13][14][15] The register shows it as removed.[1]
- Related-party property. The trust owned an investment property "jointly and in equal shares" with The Harbour Foundation, let to Conlatuse Limited, "a 100% subsidiary of The Harbour Foundation", on a ten-year lease from 21 November 2008 at £254,000 a year; the trust's share of rent was £50,191 (2018: £127,000) and £67,818 was due from the Foundation at the year end. The accounts say some trustees and Foundation directors "are related as they are from the same family", and that the trust held £75,000 of units in The Epsilon Unit Trust, "controlled by family members of the trustees".[2] Companies House records Barbara Brenda Green as a director of Conlatuse Limited from 1999 to 2008.[16]
- Last reported year. The register records spending of £4,873,548 in the year to 5 April 2021 against income of £34,280; the 2019 accounts gave total funds of £4,864,354. No accounts for 2020 or 2021 are available, and the register does not give a reason for removal.[3][2][1]
- Removal date. The register extract gives 8 August 2022 as the removal date, but the full print shows "07 April 1995: Removed" while also listing accounts received up to February 2022.[3][1]
