Teddy Sagi (טדי שגיא, born 14 November 1971) is an Israeli businessman, founder of the gambling-software company Playtech and owner of Camden Market through LabTech. Forbes put his wealth at $7.1 billion in June 2026. The Sunday Times rich list for 2025 put it at £5 billion. He took Cypriot citizenship in 2009 under that country’s golden-visa scheme. He is not the man who hired Black Cube. By the time Playtech did, in 2021, he had sold his remaining stake in November 2018, and Mor Weizer was chief executive.[1][2]
Early life
He was born in Tel Aviv, the only child of Ami Sagi, who owned a travel agency, and Lizi Sagi, a cosmetician. He grew up in the Shikun Lamed neighbourhood. In 1996 the Tel Aviv District Court convicted him of fraud and bribery for manipulating bond prices and sentenced him to nine months in a plea bargain.[3]
Playtech
He founded the company in Tartu in 1999. It floated in London in 2006 at a valuation of about £550 million. At the offering he held about 81 per cent. A later filing-based account put the holding at 4.6 per cent. Forbes says he sold a 12 per cent slice for almost $400 million in 2016 and the rest for $88 million in November 2018. The two accounts of the residual stake do not match. Either way he was no longer the controlling shareholder when the company hired Black Cube. Weizer has run it since May 2007. The Evolution contract, the fees and the New Jersey judgment are on the Playtech page.[1][2]
The rest of the group
He has taken four companies to London’s AIM: Playtech, Market Tech, the payments processor SafeCharge, and the cybersecurity company Kape Technologies. He bought Crossrider in 2012 and renamed it Kape in 2018. He held 68 per cent of SafeCharge, which cleared cards for online gambling and was based principally in Bulgaria. Nuvei of Canada bought it in 2019 for $889 million. In March 2014 he bought Camden Market Holdings — Camden Market, the Stables Market and Camden Lock — for £490 million, from interests of Bebo Kobo, Richard Caring, Chelsfield and O.D. Kobo. The holding company, then Market Tech, was the largest AIM flotation of 2015. He took it private in July 2017. It now trades as LabTech and holds the Camden estate. The family office is Globe Invest.[1]
Family
Forbes lists him as resident in Tel Aviv, an Israeli citizen, in a relationship, with six children. The partner named is Yael Nizri, Miss Israel in 2006. Other profiles place him in London and Dubai as well as Israel.[1]
