MTC Charitable Trust (charity number 1111044) was a London grant-making trust. The Charity Commission records its previous name as The Tina and Michael Cole Charitable Trust. It was established by a trust deed dated 25 July 2005, registered on 25 August 2005, and removed from the register on 30 August 2024 because it does not operate. It was not recognised by HMRC for Gift Aid.[1]
Objects
The governing document is the trust deed of 25 July 2005. The Commission records the objects as:
For the benefit of such charitable institution, institutions, purpose or purposes in particular but without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing, for the relief of poverty, the advancement of education, the advancement of the religion of the Orthodox Jewish faith in accordance with the doctrines and principles laid down by the Office of the Chief Rabbi of the United Kingdom and for general charitable purposes in such shares between them as the trustees may from time to time and in their absolute discretion think fit.[1]
The 2020 trustees’ report summarised the objects as prevention or relief of poverty, advancement of health or saving of lives, religious activities, and education and training. All grant proposals were generated internally. The trustees said external applications would not be considered.[2]
People
Trustees who served in the year to 31 March 2020, and up to the signature of those accounts on 22 June 2021, were Tina Cole, Michael Cole and Joshua Cole. Trustees were appointed by majority vote of the board. None received remuneration or benefits. The charity had no employees.[2]
Michael Cole signed the 2020 report and balance sheet. The independent examiner was Muneeza Baig of HW Fisher LLP, Acre House, 11–15 William Road, London NW1 3ER.[2]
The England and Wales marriage index records a marriage of Michael Cole to Tina E Rogers in the Dudley registration district, Staffordshire, April–June 1979 (volume 33, page 0545). A Tina E Rogers birth was registered in Wednesbury, Staffordshire, in the first quarter of 1959 (volume 9B, page 1092; mother’s maiden name Rogers). Those index entries are not themselves proof that the trustees are the same people.[3][4]
