Anthony Cleaver

Sir Anthony Cleaver was Chairman of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority from 2004 to 2007.[1]
His long career started with IBM in 1962 and since then he has held many positions with the computer firm in areas ranging from marketing, product management and production scheduling but mostly in line management. Sir Anthony was named General Manager in 1983, Chief Executive in 1986 and Chairman and Chief Executive in 1990. Sir Anthony retired from IBM in 1994.
Cleaver became Chairman of the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority in 1993. In 1996 he led the privatisation and subsequent flotation of UKAEA's commercial activities, becoming Chairman of AEA Technology plc - a position he held until the end of 2001.[2]

- Working Links (Employment) Limited, A public private voluntary partnership specialising in "helping disadvantaged people" [3].
- Chairman Medical Research Council, 1998-2006, appointed by Lord David Sainsbury, under his leadership the MRC was accused of poor financial management and poor planning, which ended in a dispute with the National Institute for Medical Research.

In the field of education and training, Sir Anthony has also founded and chaired numerous establishments
- Honorary Fellow, LLD, DSc and DUniv of a long list of universities and institutes.

- Director of the UK Centre for Economic and Environmental Development
- Founding Chairman of Business in the Environment
- A member of the first Advisory Committee on Business and the Environment
- Chairman of the working party of the Departments of Environment and Trade and Industry on environmental management.
- In 1990 named a member of the United Nations Environment Programme's Global 500 Roll of Honour,
- President of the Classical Association for 1995-96.
- Chairman of the Royal College of Music
- Deputy Chairman of the English National Opera until November 2000 (Director since 1988)
- Former Director of the Association for Business Sponsorship of the Arts
