Charles Wigoder is the executive chairman of The Utility Warehouse.[1]

He is the son of Basil Wigoder, Lord Wigoder, the former chairman of the Liberal Party.[2]

Background

Wigoder qualified as a chartered accountant with KPMG in 1984 and was subsequently employed by Kleinwort Securities as an investment analyst in the media and communication sectors. Between 1985 and 1988, he was head of corporate finance and development at Carlton Communications plc and then Quadrant Group plc. In March 1988 he left Quadrant Group to set up The Peoples Phone Company PLC, which was subsequently bought by Vodafone in December 1996. He joined the Utility Warehouse in February 1998.[1]

In 2006, the Conservative Party said it had received a £100,000 loan from Wigoder.[3]

Wigoder is a member of The Leader's Group, the premier Conservative Party supporter group. Through an annual membership fee of £50,000 donors are able to secure access to leading members of the party, including the prime minister.

Letter to the Telegraph

On 1 April 2015 Wigoder was one of 103 business leaders who wrote to the Telegraph praising the British Conservative Party's economic policies and claiming a Labour government would 'threaten jobs and deter investment' in the UK.[4]
