Controversies and regulatory action
- No Charity Commission inquiry, Official Warning or Gazette insolvency notice naming this charity was found, and its register entry shows no regulatory alert;[16] it is not among the charities named in the Commission's cheque-cashing class-inquiry announcements (May, September and December 2025) or in the September 2026 statement of results.[17][18][19][20] The charities in the Commission's settlements class inquiry (opened August 2026) have not been named, so it is not known whether this charity is among them.[21]
- Grant to a name in the cheque-cashing class inquiry. FY2025 grants include £25,000 to "Dover Sholem" (PDF p.17).[2] This resembles Dover Sholem Community Trust (1138710), which entered the class inquiry in September 2025;[18] no charity number is given, so the match is by name only.
- Gibraltar loan and funds deficiency. At 31 March 2025 the trust owed £2,876,965 (2024: £3,794,106) to "Rackley Limited a company registered in Gibraltar and controlled by The Gertner No. 1 Settlement, connected with Michelle Gertner". This is a long-term, interest-free loan "received in 2010 in order to meet commitments for grants made in that year". The accounts show a deficiency of £3,012,766 on unrestricted funds; Rackley Limited and J & M Baumgarten "have confirmed that it will continue to provide support".[2]
