Malcolm Hedding
International Christian Embassy Jerusalem UK
Malcolm Hedding (born 1952) is a South African-born evangelical minister and former Executive Director of the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ). Hedding's wikipedia entry states that during the 1970s Hedding opposed apartheid and was forced to leave South Africa.[1] However, the author of the article on which this claim is based was written by Lela Gilbert, a Christion Zionist and member of the Philos Project.[2]

Views
Israel and the Middle East
On his website Hedding outlines his views regarding Israel and the Middle East more broadly:
- Once again the peace and quiet of Israel and the Middle East is being shattered by the drums of war, but this is not a conflict with many sides to it as some would have us believe. No, we are watching a growing alliance of radical Muslims that are first of all fighting it out in order to settle the question of leadership amongst themselves but, underneath it all, is an agenda that unites them and that has to do with the destruction of Israel. The boundaries demarking states in the region after the First World War, (as a consequence of the Versailles Conference 28 June 1919), were all artificial and laid the foundations for conflict for decades to come. Great Britain and France all but carved up the Middle East to suit their own political, commercial and energy interests in a secret agreement made in 1916 called “The Sykes-Picot Agreement”. The western powers therefore, in their stupidity, put “puppet tyrants” in place and over regions that were extremely multi-ethnic and tribal. This conflict is now reaching its final battle and shortly a new Middle East will emerge holding a deep seated hatred for the West and for Israel in particular. The global powers such as the European Union, Russia, China and the USA will form alliances with this new evolving entity that will either set them against Israel in most cases or abandon tiny Israel in some cases; mainly by the states of the European Union and a war weary America. Israel will pretty much stand alone and face certain annihilation.
- So, the rise of ISIS and its newly proclaimed Caliphate is part of this process. Their barbaric practices of beheading and crucifying dissenters and Christians have shocked the world however so far this “world” has done little to stop them. Rumor also has it that ISIS is already in league with Hamas in Gaza and, as I write, hundreds of missiles launched from Gaza are pouring down on the southern towns and villages of Israel requiring 1.4 million Israeli civilians to take refuge in bomb shelters. Israel is also mobilizing 50,000 troops at this hour in an attempt to put an end to this outrageous and indiscriminate attack, without restraint, against its people. This is a very dark hour for the Middle East, Israel and the world and the fact that western leaders are calling upon Israel to act with restraint in the face of such violent aggression is absurd. Hamas needs to be destroyed just as Hitler needed to be destroyed. There will be no peace until this is achieved.[4]
Israel and Apartheid
Hedding has stated that describing Israel as an apartheid state is 'absolute nonsense':
- You might have structures that look like apartheid, but they're not. The barrier fence has nothing to do with apartheid and everything to do with Israel's self-defense... Israel is not trying to dominate the Arab minority or dehumanize it; she's trying to facilitate sovereignty in one way or another while protecting her own citizens from a program of destruction. In no way is it an apartheid system.[2]
Israeli Politics
Hedding supported Benjamin Netanyahu's 2015 election campaign, describing his challenger Isaac Herzog as 'a radical leftist politician, who will by his dangerous policies bring Israel to a real security crisis, if ever elected to power.'[5]
European Antisemitism
Hedding has compared the current situation of European Jews to that of the 1930s:
- A campaign of global hatred of Israel is gathering momentum and anti-Semitism is sweeping through Europe and beyond at an alarming rate... Somehow a climate has arrived, thanks mainly to the politically correct craziness of the west that enables Jew haters to feel emboldened in their attacks against Jews. This was precisely what happened in Germany and beyond some seventy years ago. It only ended once 60 million people had lost their lives! We should all be alarmed.[5]
