Tony Sampson is the director of government affairs at pharmaceutical company AddVie.

Career
Sampson worked in the Department of Health from 1993 to 2005, under secretaries of state for health Virginia Bottomley, Stephen Dorrell, Frank Dobson, Alan Milburn and John Reid.
In 2005 Sampson was appointed by US healthcare giants UnitedHealth as the director of external affairs UK.
In 2013 he joined AbbVie as director of government affairs.[1]
NHS privatisation
Between 1999 and 2003 Sampson was one of the then secretary of state for health Alan Milburn's aides, with Simon Stevens and Andrew Harrison. In 2003 Stevens moved to America and spent a decade working for UnitedHealth eventually becoming vice president of the UH Group, he then moved back to the UK in 2014 as the CEO of the NHS and is the man currently in charge of the health service. In 2005 Sampson was UnitedHealth's chief lobbyist in the UK and Harrison's current employers, Hanover Communications, have 'lobbied for UnitedHealth since at least 2007'.[2]
UnitedHealth are currently bidding on a number of NHS privatised contracts.[3]
