The Vanguard Charitable Endowment Fund (or Vanguard Charitable Endowment Program) describes itself as 'a top U.S. grantmaking organization that fulfills its mission to increase charitable giving by administering a donor-advised fund--a tax-effective way to consolidate, accrue, and grant assets to charity. Since our inception in 1997, we have helped donors fulfill their philanthropic goals and make lasting charitable impacts.' [1]
The minimum contribution is $25,000 of cash, publicly traded securities, or mutual fund shares.
It was founded in 1997 by The Vanguard Group, Inc. and has given $6.1 billion to charity since its inception.
