John Grogan was a Labour Party MP from 1997- 2010, the first ever Labour candidate to represent the Selby constituency. Grogan is the leader of the All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group the largest all party group in Westminster and a member the Northern Ireland Affairs Select Committee, since July 2004. In the 2010 election, Grogan failed to get re-elected, losing his seat to the Conservative MP Nigel Adams. As a result of this, he was given a payoff of £32,383 by the party. However, for the upcoming general election in May 2015, Grogan has been recalled to the Labour Party to stand for the Selby constituency once again. [2]
