UK CIO (1176141) granting about £13–15 million a year, mainly to Orthodox Jewish causes in Israel

Lehachzikom

Type CIO
Founded 2017-12-06 (registered)
Registration ID Registered charity 1176141
Headquarters 36 Warwick Grove, London, E5 9HU
Area served Israel

Lehachzikom is a UK charitable incorporated organisation (charity no. 1176141), registered on 6 December 2017. The name is Hebrew le-haḥzikom — “to strengthen them.” Objects: the advancement of the Orthodox Jewish faith, the relief of poverty, and the relief of sickness, poor health and old age, in particular but not limited to people living in Israel.[1]

It is one of the larger UK Orthodox grant-makers. Almost all spending is grants to institutions. Fundraising cost on the register is recorded as £0. It is not Lehachyos (1170523, under Charity Commission inquiry) and not Vead Lehaczokas Hayehadus Beartzos Hamizrach (1003576, ~£9,000 a year).[1][2]

A Powerbase stub listing the four trustees was created in December 2022.[3]

Activities

The Commission activity line repeats the objects and names Israel. Compilers describe a Stamford Hill / Upper Clapton mailbox that pushes donations onward, in partnership with an Israeli amuta, Lehachzikom Velehachyosom (no. 580431468). That partnership is not set out on the UK register itself.[1][4]

Where it operates, on the register: Israel. No published schedule of named Israeli institutions, settlements or IDF-adjacent bodies has been extracted here. Grants-to-institutions on the 2024 return were £13.55 million of £13.56 million expenditure.[5]

Trustees

Four trustees. Founders Aharon Moshe Vizel and Jehoshua Gross from registration (2 October 2017); Isaac Jacob Feldman and Jacob Adler from February 2022. No trustee remuneration is recorded.[6]

Name Appointed Other trusteeships on the register
Aharon Moshe Vizel 2 October 2017 None on record
Jehoshua Gross 2 October 2017 Kollel Viznitz London
Isaac Jacob Feldman 7 February 2022 None on record
Jacob Adler 16 February 2022 New Marston Limited; The Meri Trust

The 2022 Powerbase stub also listed Adler on Ahavas Shalom Trust; that line is not on the current Commission “other trusteeships” table and should be checked before reuse.[3][6]

Jehoshua Gross’s seat on Kollel Viznitz London is the only court-named overlap on the present register: Vizhnitz (Hasidic dynasty), not Satmar (Hasidic dynasty). That does not by itself make Lehachzikom a Viznitz house charity.[6]
