Funding in Israel
- FY2025 grants £1,278,470 (2024: £354,450) (PDF p.5, 15):[2] Federation of Jewish Relief Organisations £350,000 for a new Oncology-Hematology Centre in the Hillel Yaffe Medical Centre, Hadera; Shaare Zedek UK £271,470 towards an angiography treatment room; Laniado Hospital UK £200,000 for a peritoneal treatment unit in its new dialysis department; Hadassah Medical Relief Association UK £150,000; Bar Ilan University £50,000; Benji Hillman Foundation £47,200; Camp Simcha £40,000; National Holocaust Centre (Beth Shalom) £25,000; Work Avenue £25,000; Yad Sarah £20,000; and other donations £99,800.[2]
- FY2024 grants included UK Toremet £75,000, Central British Fund for World Jewish Relief £50,000, JNF Charitable Trust £48,000, British Emunah Fund £40,000, Yesodeh Hatorah Primary Girls School Trust £30,000, British Friend of Shuvu £25,000 and Magen David Adom UK £20,000 (PDF p.15).[2]
Israeli partners
Israeli hospitals and institutions funded mostly through UK friends charities: the Hillel Yaffe Medical Centre in Hadera (through the Federation of Jewish Relief Organisations), Shaare Zedek, Laniado and Hadassah hospitals (through their UK charities), Bar Ilan University, Yad Sarah and the Benji Hillman Foundation (PDF p.5, 15).[2][11]
Activity beyond the Green Line and support for the IDF
Findings are graded by confidence. "Partner" findings concern the Israeli recipient organisation, not proven use of UK funds.
| Finding | Confidence |
|---|---|
| The £350,000 grant is for a centre at the Hillel Yaffe Medical Centre in Hadera, named in the accounts; no activity beyond the Green Line is stated (PDF p.5).[2] | Medium |
| The Benji Hillman Foundation says its lone-soldier home and guidance centre are in Ra'anana.[11] | Medium |
| The other Israel-related grants go to UK charities and are not located in the accounts (PDF p.15).[2] | Not established |
Support for the IDF: No IDF funding by the trust is stated.[2] It gave £47,200 in 2025 to the Benji Hillman Foundation (PDF p.15),[2] whose website says it runs "HaBayit shel Benji (Benji's Home), a purpose-built home for lone soldiers" and a guidance centre in Ra'anana, so that lone soldiers "will have a real home to call their own for the duration of their army service".[11]
Controversies and regulatory action
- No Charity Commission inquiry, Official Warning or Gazette insolvency notice naming this charity was found, and its register entry shows no regulatory alert;[12] it is not among the charities named in the Commission's cheque-cashing class-inquiry announcements (May, September and December 2025) or in the September 2026 statement of results.[13][14][15][16] The charities in the Commission's settlements class inquiry (opened August 2026) have not been named, so it is not known whether this charity is among them.[17]
- Related-party grants. In 2024 the trust gave £70,000 to The British Friends of Beth Lohamei Hagetaot, of which Israel Chaim Weinstock is a trustee, and £50,000 to World Jewish Relief, of which Peter Swimer's daughter is a director (PDF p.19).[2]
- Related-party grant missing from the grants list. The £70,000 to The British Friends of Beth Lohamei Hagetaot does not appear in the 2024 column of the grants list, whose named grants and other donations total £354,450 (PDF p.15, 19).[2]
- Spending from capital. Grants were more than eleven times investment income, and funds fell by 29% in the year (PDF p.11).[2]
