Rebecca Harris is the Conservative Party MP for Castle Point. She was elected in May 2010 with a majority vote of 7,632. [1] In the May 2015 election she retained her seat with an increased majority of 8,934. [2]

From May 2015 to July 2016, Harris served as the parliamentary private secretary (PPS) to the former Northern Irish secretary Theresa Villiers.[3] Following the reshuffle of July 2016, Mrs Harris was appointed PPS to the current secretary of state for communities and local government, Sajid Javid MP. [4]

Background

Before entering parliament Harris spent the majority of her working life in business, principally with Phillimore & Co, a specialist publishers of British local history. [5]

Harris has worked as a special adviser to Tim Yeo while he was shadow secretary of state for the Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Health, Department for Education, Department for Transport and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs respectively, in the last Parliament. [1]
