FoodDrinkEurope (formerly known as the Confederation des Industries Agro-Alimentaires in French or the Confederation of Food and Drink Industries of the EEC in English) was created in 2011.[1]
Contents
History
FoodDrinkEurope has its origins in the Commission of Food and Drink Industries set up by the EU employers' confederation UNICE (now BusinessEurope). UNICE founded the CIAA (Confederation of Food and Drink Industries of the EEC) in 1982 to replace the Commission.[1] According to its own account 'CIAA became a key stakeholder, working with European and international institutions on issues impacting on the food and drink industry.' [1] On 23 June 2011, CIAA became FoodDrinkEurope and 'will continue to speak for the industry, representing both the industry’s traditions and potential.'[1]
